Privacy Policy
Weird NJ App — published by Tiki Interactive, LLC. In-app content © 2026 Weird N.J., Inc. Effective date: October 21, 2026 · Last updated: October 21, 2026
This policy explains what information the Weird NJ App (the "App") collects, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. "We," "us" and "our" mean Tiki Interactive, LLC ("Tiki Interactive"). If you have questions, write to privacy@tikiinteractive.com.
1. Who the App is for
The App is intended for users in the United States and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
2. The short version
- You can use the App as a guest without giving us your name or email. Creating an account is optional.
- We collect only what we need to run the App: your account, your Passport stamps and game progress, anything you choose to send us, and anonymous usage statistics.
- We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it to track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- Your location is used on your device to show nearby places and to award Passport stamps. We do not keep a history of where you have been.
- You can turn usage statistics and location tracking off, and ask us to delete your account.
3. Information we collect
Account information. If you create an account, we collect your email address, a password (stored in scrambled form; we cannot read it) and the username you choose. If you set up Face ID / Touch ID, your device keeps your face or fingerprint; we never receive it. We store only a passkey credential that lets your device prove it is you. If you continue as a guest, we create an anonymous account with a random user ID and no name or email.
Passport stamps and game progress. When you are within range of a location with location tracking turned on, the App records that you visited it. We store which location, its category and the time, tied to your account, so your stamps can appear in your Passport and on the leaderboards. We also store your scores and progress in Weird NJ Trivia, Fact or Crap and Weird Road Trip (for example wins, high scores, match results and the Legends you have unlocked).
Location. The App asks your device for your location to show nearby locations, to draw you on the Weird Map, and to check whether you are close enough to a location to earn a stamp. This is done on your device. We do not store your ongoing location or a trail of your movements. Your precise coordinates are sent to us only when you choose to send them: when you use "Update GPS" to suggest a corrected position for a location, or when you submit a new location with its coordinates. You can turn location tracking off in the App or in your device settings; most of the App still works without it.
Things you send us. If you submit feedback, suggest a GPS correction, or submit a location (name, description, address, category, coordinates and an optional photo), we store what you send together with your username and user ID. Please do not include personal information about other people in anything you submit. Photos are stored with your submission.
Legal notice acceptances. Each time you tap "I Understand" on the legal notice shown before Directions, we record the date and time, your username (or "guest"), your user ID, a fingerprint of the notice wording and the device or browser you used. We keep these records as proof the notice was shown and accepted.
Usage statistics (analytics). The App sends anonymous usage events to PostHog, an analytics service based in the United States. An event is a short record that something happened — for example a screen was opened, a game was started or finished, a stamp was earned, or a pak was viewed in the Weird Store. Events can include simple details such as the screen, the pak or location involved, a score or count, the type of device (web or app) and the app version. We do not send your exact location, email address, username, anything you type (such as search text or feedback), or your photos. Until you sign in, events are linked only to a random identifier on your device; after you sign in, to your account's random user ID — never your email or username. We configure PostHog not to look up your location from your IP address and not to keep IP addresses. You can turn this off at any time with the Usage Analytics switch in Options; when it is off, the App sends no analytics events.
Purchases. The App itself is a paid download, and the Weird Store sells optional in-app purchases (such as Data Paks, games and decks). Both are processed by Apple or Google through the App Store or Google Play, under their own terms and privacy policies. We never receive your payment card or bank details. Apple or Google keep the record of what you bought. To confirm purchases and keep track of which paks you own, we use RevenueCat, a purchase-management service based in the United States. RevenueCat receives your purchase history and a random identifier (your account's random user ID, or an anonymous identifier if you are a guest). We never send it your name, email address or username.
Information stored on your device. The App saves data on your device so it works offline and remembers you: your guest or login session, your Passport stamps, favorites, settings (such as sound and text size) and downloaded pak content and pictures. If you clear the App's data or delete the App, this information is removed from that device; account data on our servers remains until deleted as described below.
Notifications. If you allow them, the App can show notifications on your device, such as when you earn a Passport stamp. We do not collect or store a push-notification address for this.
Technical information. Like any app or website, our servers and the services listed in Section 5 receive your IP address, device and browser type and the time of each request when your device connects to them. This is used to deliver the App, keep it secure and diagnose problems.
4. How we use information
- To run the App: sign you in, show locations and the map, award stamps, run games and leaderboards, unlock paks and deliver downloads.
- To keep the App safe and fair, prevent abuse and fix problems.
- To review and respond to the feedback, corrections and locations you send us, and to improve our location data.
- To understand how the App is used, and make it better (analytics).
- To keep records of legal notices and to meet legal obligations.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it.
5. Who we share it with
We use a small number of service providers who handle information for us under their own terms and may only use it to provide their service to us:
- Supabase — our database, sign-in and file storage (accounts, stamps, scores, feedback, submissions, photos).
- Netlify — hosts the App and its content files.
- Google Maps — displays the Weird Map. Google receives the information needed to load and show maps (such as your IP address and the map area viewed) under Google's privacy policy.
- PostHog — usage statistics, as described above.
- Apple / Google — purchases, including the purchase of the App itself.
- RevenueCat — confirms in-app purchases and records which paks you own.
Leaderboards and other players. Your username, scores and stamp totals are shown to other players on the leaderboards. Choose a username that does not identify you. Your email address is never shown.
Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law or legal process, or to protect the rights, property or safety of our users, the public, Tiki Interactive or Weird N.J., Inc. If we are involved in a merger, sale or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of it; we will tell you if the policy changes as a result.
6. How long we keep information
We keep account information, stamps, progress and your submissions while your account exists. When an account is deleted we delete or anonymize the data tied to it, except that legal notice acceptance records are kept for legal-record purposes (they are detached from your user ID, and the username stays on the record). Backups and logs may keep information for a short additional period. Anonymous analytics data is kept only as long as it is useful for measuring and improving the App; if you turn analytics off, nothing further is collected.
7. Your choices and rights
- Analytics: turn off the Usage Analytics switch in Options.
- Location and notifications: change these in the App or your device settings at any time.
- Access, correction and deletion: you may ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete your account and its data. Write to privacy@tikiinteractive.com from the email address on your account (or, for a guest account, tell us your username or user ID). We will respond within 30 days. You can also delete your account yourself, at any time, in the App: Options > Delete My Account (for registered accounts). If you cannot use the App, you can ask us to delete your account at https://www.weirdnjapp.com/delete-account/. Deleting your account permanently removes your username, email, stamps, scores and progress, feedback, GPS updates, submitted locations and photos.
- California residents have the right to know, delete and correct personal information and to opt out of its "sale" or "sharing." We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, and we will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. Residents of other states may have similar rights; contact us and we will honor them where they apply.
8. Security
We use HTTPS to protect information in transit and access controls on our database and storage. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your password and device safe.
9. Links to other sites
The App links to other sites such as WeirdNJ.com and WeirdUS.com. We are not responsible for their privacy practices; please read their policies.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date and, for significant changes, tell you in the App. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated policy.
